Myshka's Christmas List

Dear Santa,

This is Myshka and mom said I have to write you so my Christmas goodies will appear under the tree.

I tried to be very good this year.  The few naughty things I did were not really my fault.  You see Santa,  I love ice cream and mom said I could not have any ice cream.  I sat and watched mom put many scoops of creamy vanilla in a bowl for dad.  Mom walked away for what seemed an eternity.  I really didn't think she would notice if I had one small lick.  It was so good that I have to have another.  The second lick brought the bowl off of the counter and onto the floor.  That is when mom appeared and lets just say she was not happy.  She wouldn't even let me help her clean the floor.

The second naughty was not my fault either Santa.  I love to ride with Dad in the jeep.  Dad said I couldn't go this time and he would be back shortly.  Well, I don't know what happened.  Something possessed my Myshka body and I went into Dad's closet and pulled out his favorite shirt - the infamous Beach Boy shirt.  This thing that jumped into my Myshka body ate the shirt - shredded the shirt.  Dad was so happy to see me when he came home until he saw the Beach Boy shirt.  He mumbled something about a Reyn Spooner genuine Beach Boy shirt.  Dad looked at me and said that if he didn't love me so much that I might have to find another home.  I had to go to time out for what seemed like another eternity.

I promise Santa, that is all of the naughty doggy things, otherwise I have been very good. So that being said, here is my list.

1. One huge antler to chew
2. A big new doggy bed
3. Venison snacks
4. A new squeaky toy

Thanks Santa!
Love you,
Myshka

Thank you to Urban Hounds

Urban Hounds  thank you for the award!  We are honored that you chose us as one of the recipients.

You must visit our good friends at Urban Hounds  Their wonderful blog has such cute furbabies, delicious recipes that make us so hungry, and book reviews.  You will also find a knitting project or two and interesting photos.

As a recipient of this award I must tell you ten things about our pack.  I will do my best to make it interesting.

1)  Some family members are not pictured on the bottom of the blog.  Also included at our cottage are:
Mugsy  - She is our 17 year old rat terrier who came to live with me at 5 weeks old. She has been a loyal companion and buddy. Mugsy still loves to play ball, one short fetch and she has to rest. She sleeps most of the time.

2. China Girl came to live with us when she was 6 weeks old. Now she is 9 years old and rules the house.  All of our girls fear her.  She jumps on them while they are sleeping.  China Girl will sit near any of our girls and growl at them.

3. India came to our house as a kitten too.  She is 2  years old and gets into everything.  She has to be monitored constantly and sometimes confined to certain rooms of the house.  India eats and chews on anything that she can reach. She is very curious and interested in things that she should not touch.  India almost died from eating many feet of crochet thread.

4.  Lucy is a toy fox terrier and weighs 4 lbs.  From a tiny pup, she always sat in my purse. No one knew she was in there so she went everywhere with me. She was quiet as a little church mouse.  She still wants to jump in the purse when she knows I am leaving the house.  Lucy will turn 7 years old Dec 31st.  She loves to play ball and bark at deer.

5.  Human sitting at our house is unheard of - one of the girls always needs walking. Most of the time we walk as one large group.   Lucy stays behind or rides in a pocket.

6.  One of the girls goes to the vet each month.  Their appointments are set at a different month for each dog. (unless of course there is an emergency).

7.  The two Siberians, Myshka (2 years old) and Sasha (1 year old) are very gentle.  They never meet a stranger and love everyone and every dog.  They love to talk - woo woo.  Both of them came from Craigslist as puppies as a rehome from different couples.  We were so fortunate to see the ads within minutes of their postings.

8. Nina is a Kuvasz.  She has required much socialization and many classes.  She is not aggressive but is very reserved.  She will sit calmly by my side when we meet people. I tell others not to talk to or touch the big white dog, just ignore her.  She accesses each situation/meeting. If she is comfortable with the other person she will lay down at my feet, but they must not touch her.  I allow her to play with other dogs that we know on a personal basis.  As a pup, she played at the dog park, however now I will not take her to the dog park because I don't know how she would react if challenged.  I know she would not back down.  She considers our family her pack and loves each one.

9. Betsy is a mixed breed that someone dumped on a long lonely rural road this past July.  She was 4 to 5 months old and left to survive beside the road.  She ran in front of my car on a hot July morning.  I captured her that night by enticing her with food.  No rescue group had room for her so we kept her. She has been very easy to train and is a happy loving girl.  I love her big eyes!

10.  Phoebe and Lily are standard sized rat terriers.  This breed is great for rural life and so energetic.  They both love to play and never tire of chasing the ball.  They are the family clowns and play with everyone.  Phoebe loves to cuddle and Lily likes to sit and stare at you. I would love to know what she is thinking.  Phoebe is 8 months old and Lily is 6 months old.

We cannot imagine our lives without each of the above.  Each one is trained, well behaved and a real joy.  Phoebe and Lily are still in training and will be for a few months.  There is nothing like watching a beautiful sunset with your best friend at your feet or sitting in the swing beside you.

I have chosen six blogs to pass the Kreativ Blogger Award to and they are:

2.  Paws & Learn

3.  Peaceful dog

4.  The Rescues

5.  2 Best Friends From Iowa

6.  A Wonderful Dogs Life

Please stop by and visit each one.  They are all great blogs and you will meet some interesting dogs.

Spayed

We have been spayed!  Right now we are feeling no pain, however, Wednesday will probably be a different story.
Phoebe

Lily

Mom is patiently waiting for the sedative to take affect before putting us to bed.

Hope we are feeling this good on Wednesday!

Wednesday Update:  We are tired, we hate the cones and don't like taking it easy!

New Coats

Mom bought new rain coats for us.

We are not sure if we like these rain and wind coats.  What do you think?

They are not bad, we might get used to wearing them.

Modeling for Mom.

We think we need a red one for the holiday season.

Actually, we would like some sunshine.

Friday Friends

Friends are great to chase along the fence.

Mom says she does not know where we keep all of that energy and stamina.

Even though the temperatures were in the 50's , one of us had to cool down.

One of us (Myshka) would scream if her feet touched water.

$2000 Crochet and Knitting Thread

This is India and she lived here before all of her canine sisters.

India and China keep us quite entertained. China never gets into anything that she is not supposed to while India is always in trouble.

A little over a year ago, India stopped eating, would not drink water, and would not move. After 24 hours of not eating I knew something was wrong with her.
She stayed in this position.

After several days of force feeding her and making many trips to the vet, there was no other choice but to open her stomach and intestines.  The assumption was she must have ingested something that was causing a blockage. Day by day she was getting worse so we had no other choice.   The vet called after surgery to tell me  India was in recovery and resting comfortably.  She had eaten many feet of my crochet thread!!!!  This thread had wrapped around the very back of her tongue,  twisted around stomach tissues and was caught in her intestines. She would have died without the surgery. To this day I don't know how she got this thread and ate it.  She was very sick for days after surgery. She had to be kept sedated and quiet in order for stomach and intestinal stitches to hold and heal.  Of course there was always the possibility of infection setting in too. She made it!

To this day, India puts everything she comes in contact with into her mouth.  I have to constantly watch her, ensure everything that could harm her is put away. She will eat paper, fuzz, anything that is on the floor.

This is some of India's $2000 crochet thread.

Remember you never know what your fur babies will decide to eat that will cause sickness or death.

Motel Christmas Lights

On our walk tonight we found the goat motel fully decorated for the holidays.

Tonight all the lights are lit, sometime the patrons like to pull off some of the lights.

Obviously the goats must be in their rooms.   :)

Reflections of Past Holidays and Turbo

Mom was thinking of holidays past, granddaughters, and granddogs. This is Turbo and he is mom's granddog, so I guess that makes us his aunties. Turbo lives in Alabama and he is an AUBURN fan. (Go Tigers/War Eagles!)

Turbo is kind and patient considering he went from being the baby to sharing his home with two precious little girls.

Turbo's dad took him to be groomed one day and he came home looking like a lion.
Turbo was the talk of the neighborhood!

Turbo always wanted in the pool so this made towel drying a breeze!
