Thank you to Urban Hounds

Urban Hounds  thank you for the award!  We are honored that you chose us as one of the recipients.

You must visit our good friends at Urban Hounds  Their wonderful blog has such cute furbabies, delicious recipes that make us so hungry, and book reviews.  You will also find a knitting project or two and interesting photos.

As a recipient of this award I must tell you ten things about our pack.  I will do my best to make it interesting.

1)  Some family members are not pictured on the bottom of the blog.  Also included at our cottage are:
Mugsy  - She is our 17 year old rat terrier who came to live with me at 5 weeks old. She has been a loyal companion and buddy. Mugsy still loves to play ball, one short fetch and she has to rest. She sleeps most of the time.

2. China Girl came to live with us when she was 6 weeks old. Now she is 9 years old and rules the house.  All of our girls fear her.  She jumps on them while they are sleeping.  China Girl will sit near any of our girls and growl at them.

3. India came to our house as a kitten too.  She is 2  years old and gets into everything.  She has to be monitored constantly and sometimes confined to certain rooms of the house.  India eats and chews on anything that she can reach. She is very curious and interested in things that she should not touch.  India almost died from eating many feet of crochet thread.

4.  Lucy is a toy fox terrier and weighs 4 lbs.  From a tiny pup, she always sat in my purse. No one knew she was in there so she went everywhere with me. She was quiet as a little church mouse.  She still wants to jump in the purse when she knows I am leaving the house.  Lucy will turn 7 years old Dec 31st.  She loves to play ball and bark at deer.

5.  Human sitting at our house is unheard of - one of the girls always needs walking. Most of the time we walk as one large group.   Lucy stays behind or rides in a pocket.

6.  One of the girls goes to the vet each month.  Their appointments are set at a different month for each dog. (unless of course there is an emergency).

7.  The two Siberians, Myshka (2 years old) and Sasha (1 year old) are very gentle.  They never meet a stranger and love everyone and every dog.  They love to talk - woo woo.  Both of them came from Craigslist as puppies as a rehome from different couples.  We were so fortunate to see the ads within minutes of their postings.

8. Nina is a Kuvasz.  She has required much socialization and many classes.  She is not aggressive but is very reserved.  She will sit calmly by my side when we meet people. I tell others not to talk to or touch the big white dog, just ignore her.  She accesses each situation/meeting. If she is comfortable with the other person she will lay down at my feet, but they must not touch her.  I allow her to play with other dogs that we know on a personal basis.  As a pup, she played at the dog park, however now I will not take her to the dog park because I don't know how she would react if challenged.  I know she would not back down.  She considers our family her pack and loves each one.

9. Betsy is a mixed breed that someone dumped on a long lonely rural road this past July.  She was 4 to 5 months old and left to survive beside the road.  She ran in front of my car on a hot July morning.  I captured her that night by enticing her with food.  No rescue group had room for her so we kept her. She has been very easy to train and is a happy loving girl.  I love her big eyes!

10.  Phoebe and Lily are standard sized rat terriers.  This breed is great for rural life and so energetic.  They both love to play and never tire of chasing the ball.  They are the family clowns and play with everyone.  Phoebe loves to cuddle and Lily likes to sit and stare at you. I would love to know what she is thinking.  Phoebe is 8 months old and Lily is 6 months old.

We cannot imagine our lives without each of the above.  Each one is trained, well behaved and a real joy.  Phoebe and Lily are still in training and will be for a few months.  There is nothing like watching a beautiful sunset with your best friend at your feet or sitting in the swing beside you.

I have chosen six blogs to pass the Kreativ Blogger Award to and they are:

  1. I love all of the information, wonderful. It must be such a pleasure to walk in rural areas. We usually walk as a pack to obut we have to restrict our wlaks to long walks once a day or very long walks several times a week in order to walk as a pack, since our parks can be a bit crowded. Otherwise we have to walk in shifts. Bob, bulldog, is quirky and will not walk out the front door unless everyone is there, he will walk alone if we drive him places

  5. I was curious about who Mugsy is and thought I would browse your blog some more and just discovered you gave us a blog award. I'm sorry I didn't notice it sooner. If you emailed I don't remember seeing it. I do apologize for not thanking you much sooner. Thank you very much for thinking of us. Again I am so sorry we didn't know.

Wow, Mugsy is 16 that's a wonderful accomplishment. I bet the people of the house don't even know what a recliner feels like with so many furiends to walk and play with every day. I can't even imagine the veterinary schedule. With just the three of us it seems like we are there at least once a month and some months more frequently.

Looks like everyone gets along well is doing great. I'm happy you are able to help so many.
